Frederick F. Buechel, M.D.

Before arriving at Seton Hall, Dr. Frederick Buechel was a New Jersey Scholastic Champion in the 136-pound class while at Seton Hall Prep. With the Pirates, he won numerous AAU and collegiate titles prior to his graduation in 1967. He then attended the New Jersey College of Medicine, where he continued to wrestle and was runner-up in his division at the Sunshine National Open in 1971. He became a pioneer in the field of Sports Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the College of Medicine, where he served as the Chief of Total Joint Prosthetic Reconstructive and Arthritis Surgery Services. His devotion to wrestling and medicine came together in his role as attending physician for the New Jersey State High School Wrestling Championships.
