Matt Ambrose joined the Seton Hall Athletics staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Digital Media & Communications in July 2025. He serves as the primary media contact for Seton Hall men's basketball, women's soccer and baseball. This is Ambrose's second full-time stint with Seton Hall, having previously served as the Assistant Director of Digital Media & Communications from 2022-24.
Ambrose returns to the Pirates after spending one year at NJIT as the Assistant Media Relations and Digital Strategy Officer. He served as the primary contact for NJIT's men's basketball, baseball, men's tennis and women's volleyball programs. Ambrose oversaw his program's media relations, social media, website management, statistical and historical archiving, biographical information, among other duties. Ambrose also served as on-air talent for interviews and feature stories highlighting NJIT student-athletes and coaches.
During his first go-around in the Seton Hall athletic department, Ambrose worked with the men's soccer, cross country, swimming & diving and softball programs, and also was the secondary contact for the men's basketball team. Ambrose led the digital media charge for the softball program's run to a BIG EAST championship in 2023, the program's first in 18 years. Ambrose also assisted in special event planning, including spearheading the content planning behind the department's 50 Years of Women's Sports at Seton Hall celebration in December 2023.
Prior to joining the Pirates, Ambrose was the Communications Assistant for the BIG EAST Conference for one season, serving as the primary contact for volleyball, swimming and diving, tennis and softball; and secondary contact for women’s basketball. With the BIG EAST, Ambrose selected weekly award winners for his assigned sports, maintained historical information on the conference website, and assisted with social media and operations at championship events throughout the year. He continues to broadcast live games as a play-by-play commentator for the BIG EAST Digital Network.
Ambrose is also a 2019 graduate of Seton Hall University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in Visual & Sound Media. He served as Sports Director for the award-winning student radio station 89.5 FM WSOU, was an On-Air Correspondent for the Pirate Sports Network and interned with MSG Networks as a Production Student Associate during his undergraduate degree. Ambrose completed his Master of Science in Sport Management at Frostburg State in 2021 while serving as the Athletic Communications Broadcast Assistant for two seasons. He oversaw and provided play-by-play for both video and radio broadcasts and operated Frostburg State’s athletics website and social media channels.
