
Seton Hall's Department Cumulative GPA Hits Another Record High

South Orange, N.J. – In what has become tradition for a department that prides itself on its academic prowess, Seton Hall Athletics has produced a record-high end-of-year cumulative GPA for the 14th time in the last 15 years. After Spring 2025 grades were calculated, the department sits with a 3.537 cumulative GPA, surpassing the previous high of 3.531, and all 14 varsity programs are above 3.30 for the first time ever.
This also marks the 11th consecutive academic year that the Pirates finished the year with a cumulative GPA above 3.30 and eighth straight year above 3.40.
Additionally, 173 student-athletes made the Seton Hall Dean's List during the Spring 2025 semester, representing 63 percent of the student-athlete population. To achieve Dean's List designation, students must have a 3.4 GPA or higher during the semester.
All 14 programs currently boast cumulative GPAs above 3.30 with women's tennis at the top of the department at 3.793. Men's cross country has the highest GPA among the male sports at 3.672. Eight of Seton Hall's 14 teams have a cumulative GPA above 3.50.
Seton Hall's teams combined to post a 3.533 GPA in the 2024-25 academic year with men's cross country leading all teams at 3.755 and women's tennis leading the female teams at 3.748.
In the Spring 2025 semester, the Pirates combined for a 3.545 semester GPA as men's cross country again led all teams at 3.813 and women's tennis was tops among the women's sports at 3.745.
Men's basketball continues to boast a strong academic profile as it completed its 10th straight academic year with a cumulative GPA over 3.0 and recorded its first-ever cume GPA over 3.30, standing at 3.320.
Women's basketball, which earned a national postseason berth for the ninth time in the last 11 postseasons played, also continues to show its academic strength. The program has a 3.358 cumulative GPA.
Seton Hall Athletics continues to be a leader and developer of the best and brightest in the nation. Annually, over 85 percent of the department's student-athletes achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and receive numerous honors and accolades in support of their achievements. Seton Hall supports its student-athletes with outstanding mentoring and tutoring, led by the Academic Support Services staff, and offers its student-athletes a state-of-the-art learning environment in the Charles W. Doehler Academic Center for Excellence, which consists of a main study area, group meeting spaces and private tutoring rooms.
