Maplewood, N.J. – Seton Hall Athletics celebrated and toasted its 2025 graduating class with its annual Senior Banquet, held May 13 at Maplewood Country Club.
The event is designed to honor the graduating class in front of their coaches, peers and family members. At the start of the evening, the seniors were given student-athlete graduation stoles to wear at commencement, and many of them were recognized with the department's Academic Merit Award, given to seniors who graduate with at least a 3.3 GPA.
As is tradition, each head coach delivered remarks about their respective graduates and handed out their senior gifts. Associate Athletics Director Matt Sweeney served as emcee and was assisted by Director of Athletics Bryan Felt in handing out the major awards.
Five major awards were handed out during the marquee event. Hanna Tulli from the volleyball team was named Seton Hall's Senior Most Valuable Pirate after four outstanding years of service to the department. She developed into a leader and was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President this past year.
For their incredible work in the classroom, Sam Bjork of the men's soccer team was named the Senior Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, and Molly Mitman of the softball team was named the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Bjork transferred into Seton Hall in 2023 and made an immediate impact on the field while his studies were recognized with a 2023 College Sports Communicators second-team Academic All-America recognition. Mitman is a 4.0 student at Seton Hall and has been instrumental in raising awareness about student-athlete mental health as president of the Seton Hall chapter of The Hidden Oppponent.
George Fricker was honored as the Senior Male Athlete of the Year. He delivered a top-10 performance at the BIG EAST Championship, shooting one under par, one of his three sub-par tournament performances of the season. He recorded a career-best 72.97 scoring average for the year and currently has the third-best career scoring average in program history (73.29).
Allie Waggoner was named the Senior Female Athlete of the Year after culminating her four-year career by becoming Seton Hall women's swimming's first NCAA Championship qualifier. She dominated at the BIG EAST Championship, winning the 1650 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 IM, and she was named the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Swimmer. She earned an invitation to compete at the NCAA Championship in all three of her championship-winning events. She closes her career as a six-time BIG EAST champion and holds all of Seton Hall's distance records.
