
Kahanek Fueling Pirates at Shark Invitational

GLEN HEAD, N.Y. – Senior Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) had a pair of sub-par rounds on Monday and is the leader in the clubhouse, lifting the Seton Hall men's golf team to a second-place standing with 18 holes remaining at the Shark Invitational.

Kahanek had a total of nine birdies on Monday, firing a 2-under-par, 68, in the morning, followed by a 1-under-par, 69, in the afternoon. Entering Tuesday's final round, he's one stroke ahead of a trio fo second-place golfers with a 3-under-par, 68-69-137. Â

As a team, The Hall shot a 6-over-par, 286, to open the tournament, but shaved off three strokes to finish with a 3-over-par, 283, in round two. After 36 holes, the Pirates are in second place with a 9-over-par, 286-283-569. Boston College currently leads tournament at 1-over-par.

Remarkably, Seton Hall's "B" team is in third place, only five strokes behind it's "A" team.

Junior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) is currently tied for 10th place in the field of 71 individual golfers with a 1-over-par, 70-71-141.

Senior George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) had three birdies in route to a 1-under-par, 69, in round two today. For the tournament, he's tied for 16th place overall with a 3-over-par, 74-69-143.

Freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) was consistent on Monday, firing a pair of 4-over-par, 74's. For the event, he's tied for 39th with an 8-over-par, 74-74-148.

Rounding out Seton Hall's "A" team was sophomore Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.). She is only one stroke behind Hennessee and is tied for 42nd place with a 9-over-par, 75-74-149.

Leading the Pirates' "B" team on Monday was Jack Bosworth (Myrtle Beach, S.C.). The junior is currently tied for sixth place at even-par with a 72-68-140. Only one stroke behind Bosworth, sophomore Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) is tied for 10th with a 1-over-par, 71-70-141.

Rounding out the Pirates' "B" team, freshman Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) is 6-over-par with a 73-73-146, senior Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) is 9-over-par with a 77-72-149, and Joshua Lee (Lantana, Texas) is 10-over-par with a 76-74-150.

What was originally the home of Mr. H.L. Pratt is now today the home of Brookville Country Club. Brookville's dream became a reality in July of 1922 opening as a 9-hole golf course under the direction of Seth Raynor. Today Brookville's 6,625-yard championship 18 Hole Golf Course has become one of the most renowned and celebrated Golf Courses on Long Island holding many of the local MET PGA, MGA, WMGA, and LIGA Golf tournaments and invitationals.

In addition to Seton Hall and host LIU, the field features teams from Adelphi, Boston College, Bryant, Hartford, Holy Cross, Hofstra, Lafayette, Siena and Weber State.Â

The teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The field will play 36 continuous holes on Monday and one final round on Tuesday. Both days will begin  with a shotgun at 9:00 a.m.Â
