
Heim, Moeller Shine in Senior Day Loss to Georgetown

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team fell to Georgetown, 180-116, on Senior Day in their final regular season meet of the 2024-25 season.

Diving
In the 1-meter program, Sarah Behrman secured third place for the Pirates with a score of 225.67, less than four points shy of second play. Â Behind Behrman, by a mere 0.67 points and just off the podium, was The Hall's own Nikki Pawar who finished with score of 225.00.
On the three-meter board, Pawar found her way onto the podium in her final regular season meet. The senior claimed second place with a score of 230.40 points, less than two points clear of the Georgetown diver in third.

Swimming
After the opening relay, Allie Waggoner secured victory the 1000 Freestyle in the opening 50 yards. After the first two laps, she held a near one second lead over her next closest competition, resulting in her eventually touching the wall with a time of 10:21.84. Behind Waggoner, in third place was the Pirates' Zeynep Asysoy. The freshman touched the wall at a time of 10:43.57.
In the next event, Natalie Heim and Mia Sunseri continued the Pirates' strong start in the individual program. The duo earned a 1-2 finish with Heim finishing first with a time of 1:51.52, while Sunseri touched the wall with a 1:57.04.
As the sprint races arrived, the Pirates began to claw back at their deficit that grew after the opening events. Lea Moeller and Naima Hazell claimed a 1-2 finish in the 50 Freestyle with times of 24.23 and 24.39, respectively. Moeller then added a second place finish in the 100 Freestyle not long after, only being bested by Heim who achieved a time of 51.94.
While the Pirates never found another individual win, they came close quite a few times. Aysoy finished second in the 500 Freestyle, while Sunseri also finished second in the 200 Breaststroke. Shun Qi Lim found herself on the podium twice, finishing second in the 200 Butterfly and third in the 100 Butterfly. Among others, Yosun Hacifazioglu earned herself a second place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.
While the meet was already decided, the Pirates sent the seniors out with a bang. Moeller, Waggoner, Amelia Obszarny and Heim combined go 3:32.60 and win the 400 Freestyle Relay, nearly four seconds clear of second place.
What's Next
The Pirates return to action on Monday, February 24, at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, for the first day of the BIG EAST Championships. Prelims are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
