
Cary Claims Second BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week Honor

NEW YORK – After a weekend in which he claimed four individual victories across two meets, junior Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) has been named BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. This is the second time Cary has received this honor this season.
Cary and the Pirates opened the weekend against Wagner on January 24 in Imperatore Natatorium, claiming the meet victory with a score of 159-64. In the 200 IM, the West Chester native earned a dominant three-second victory with a time of 1:52.27. Later in the meet, Cary also claimed a half-second victory in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 45.74.
While the Pirates fell to Delaware the following day, Cary once again put up another dominant day. After a slow start in the 200 Freestyle, he blew by the competition to claim victory by over two seconds with a time of 1:39.53. In the final individual event of the day, Cary won the 200 IM for the second time in as many days with a time of 1:53.27.
The Pirates' swimmers are back in the pool on Saturday, February 1, when they travel take on Georgetown at home in Imperatore Natatorium for Senior Day. Diving is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., while swimming will begin at 3 p.m.
