Record-Breaking Relay Highlights Final Night of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, PA. – The Seton Hall men's swimming and diving team finished up its final night of competition at the Bucknell Invitational on a Sunday night.
How It Happened
In one of the rare chances to swim the 1650 Freestyle this season, the Pirates took full advantage. BIG EAST Champion Sean Vizzard and junior Clil Halevi finished one two in the event, pulling a significant gap on the rest of the field. Vizzard's time of 15:08.66 was less than two seconds of his school-record time from the 2024 BIG East championship. Halevi's time of 15:37.81 was just off from the time he put up at this time last year.
When the 200 Backstroke arrived, Balint Marosi had another chance at finding his was onto the podium after just missing in the 100 Backstroke. He did end up finding his way onto the podium in third place with a time of 1:46.18. Twins Kaedin and Kale Duong were all in the A-Final, finishing the day with times of 1:49.26 and 1:49.40, respectively.
In the 100 Freestyle, Toma Adam and Kevin Cary came into the final searching for their first individual wins of the event. Adam finished the day with a time of 44.46, while Cary ended the day with a time of 44.88.
Shayne Simmons topped the 200 Breaststroke for the Pirates on the final day, recording a season-best time of 2:05.89.
In the final individual event of the meet, BIG EAST Champion Michael Klimaszewski was in search of overall victory in the 200 Butterfly. After finishing second in prelims, Klimaszewski secured victory in wire-to-wire fashion with a time of 1:46.66. In the B-final, freshman Jake Karulf continued his strong season with a time of 1:51.99.
As the meet came to a close, one event remained; the 400 Freestyle Relay. While the team of Balint Marosi, Kevin Cary, Jaden Bunt and Michael Klimaszewski only finished fourth, they did something even more significant. With a time of 2:57.90, they broke the oldest school relay record, set in 2017, on the men's side by nearly a quarter second.

The Pirates return to action in the new year on Friday, January 17, in Newark, New Jersey, against NJIT at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center. The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
