Queens, N.Y. – The Seton Hall Pirates played to a scoreless draw with the Red Storm on a windy, rainy night at Belson Stadium on Saturday. The Pirates played the final 23 minutes down a man while Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) picked up the shutout in net. The Pirates move to 5-5-3 on the season with the draw.
How it Happened
On a night where the Pirates were only able to manage two shots on goal, the Pirates got perhaps their best opportunity of the night halfway through the first period. In the 24th minute, Eden O'Leary (Tel Aviv, Israel) got his head on a corner kick that a beat the Red Storm keeper but was knocked away by defender on the goal line.
Late in the first period, Nota had his number called on a threatening opportunity from the Red Storm. Nota made a sliding stop to his left to keep the game scoreless heading to half.
In the second period of play, each team would only register one shot on net as the rainy conditions picked up as the game continued. In the 87th minute, O'Leary was issued his second yellow card of the night forcing the Pirates to play the remaining match time with 10 men on the pitch.
The Red Storm got the better of opportunities in the two overtime periods but neither team found the back of the net to break the scoreless tie.
