FAIRFAX, VA. – Both Emilee Turner (Kaysville, Utah) and Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) registered career-highs in kills as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team defeated George Mason, 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 25-18), early on Saturday.

The Pirates' offense was dominant and efficient, recording a season-high .313 attack percentage. Turner, Rachwal and Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) combined for 38 kills and only three attack errors. Turner had a career-high 15 kills, with just two attack errors, and three blocks. Rachwal had a career-high 13 kills, zero attack errors, three blocks and a .667 attack percentage. Wilkins had 10 kills, only one attack error, three blocks and nine digs.

Senior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) also had a huge match, erupting for a career-high 48 assists to go with 13 digs for her second straight double-double.

SET 1:
George Mason charged out of the gates with six of the first seven points of the match, and forced an early Seton Hall timeout. The Pirates responded however, with a 6-1 run of their own, and a Turner kill tied the set at seven. From there, neither team grabbed a lead of greater than three points the rest of the way. Trailing 21-19, The Hall scored four of the next five points, and block assists by freshmen Reece Koehler (Stillwater, Minn.) and Wilkins put it in front, 23-22. Another kill by Turner put Seton Hall in set point, 24-23, and a flush by Rachwal ended the set in the Pirates' favor, 25-23.

SET 2:
Seton Hall trailed for most of the set, falling behind by as many as six points, 17-11. The Pirates raced back with a 9-1 run, and another kill by Rachwal put them in front, 20-18. George Mason cut their deficit to 22-21, but The Hall finished the set with the final three points. A kill by Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) ended it for Seton Hall, 25-21. The Pirates had a match-high .395 attack percentage in the second set.

SET 3:
A kill by Rachwal put The Hall in front, 8-7, in set three, but George Mason went on a 9-2 run to take a commanding 16-10 advantage. The Pirates scored twice to pull to within four points, but the Patriots again took off on a 6-0 burst to stretch their lead to 22-12. George Mason went on to win set three, 25-15.

SET 4:
The Pirates again fell behind early in set four, 14-10, but responded with four straight points, and a kill by Wilkins tied the set at 14 and forced a Patriots' timeout. Out of the break, the Pirates kept up the pressure, running the streak to 10 straight points to give The Hall a commanding 19-14 lead. The Patriots scored the next point, but didn't get closer as Seton Hall went on to a 25-18 victory.

Inside the Numbers:

Turner had a career-high 15 kills, only two attack errors, and three blocks.
Rachwal had a career-high 13 kills, zero attack errors, three blocks and a .667 attack percentage.
Wilkins had 10 kills, only one attack error, nine digs and three blocks.
Gasser tallied 11 kills and two blocks.
Koehler had seven kills and a career-best five blocks.
Cvelbar notched a double-double with a career-high 48 assists to go with 13 digs.
Freshman Raygan Murray (Rocky River, Ohio) had a career-high 22 digs.
Seton Hall recorded a .313 attack percentage for the match, while George Mason attacked at .283.
The Pirates had 58 kills, while the Patriots recorded 64.
The Hall finished with 66 digs, while George Mason tallied 67.

Seton Hall improves to 5-8 overall on the young season.
This is Seton Hall's first victory over George Mason in four all-time contests.
Cvelbar's double-double is the 18^th of her career, the most of any active player.
Seton Hall improves to 2-1 in four-set matches this season.
With 11 kills today, Gasser surpassed the 600-kill mark for her career.
Gasser has now reached double-figures in kills for the fifth time in the last seven matches.
It's the second time in Turner's career that she's recorded at least 15 kills in a match.
