Pirates Suffer Tough Luck Setback to Marist
9/7/2017 11:34:00 PM | Women's Soccer
South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team dominated possession and quality chances, but could not find the back of the net, and wound up on the wrong end of a 1-0 final score against Marist in the team's home opener at Owen T. Carroll Field Thursday night.
The Pirates (0-4-1) out-shot the Red Foxes (3-3-0), 19-6, held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal, and finished with eight corners to Marist's one.
Perhaps the best chance of the night for The Hall came in the opening half when senior captain Katie Landes (Stony Point, N.Y.) found herself with room in the top left of the box. She fired a blast that would have gotten past the keeper had it not found the exact point where the post met the upper left crossbar and sailed out of play.
Turning Point
Marist was awarded a free kick on the far right corner of the field, roughly 25 yards from the goal line. On the entry, the ball hit the ground in the middle of the box and eventually found the foot of Camille Bowen, who snuck it into the goal for the eventual game-winner.
