South Orange, N.J. - Gourmet Dining Services and the Frungillo Family, longtime partners with Seton Hall Athletics and the dining provider for Seton Hall University, have generously made a gift totaling over $750,000 to the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund to support Seton Hall student-athletes.
Â
"I can't say enough how much we appreciate Al and Hope Frungillo along with their entire family as they are incredible people who truly love Seton Hall University," Director of Athletics & Recreation Pat Lyons said. "The dedication and service they have shown towards our students, faculty, staff and the entire University community is second to none, and the gift they have made here will greatly impact our efforts on enhancing the student-athlete experience and ensuring that they are prepared for life after graduation."
Â
Gourmet Dining Services and the Frungillo family have a strong tradition of supporting Pirate Blue, serving as members since the program's inception in 1986. Recent major athletics projects that they donated to include the renovation of the men¹s basketball locker room, which was completed in June 2012, and the varsity locker room project, which was finished in January 2015.
Â
Al, a 2012 honorary inductee into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame, and his Seton Hall graduate sons Michael '00 and Anthony '02, have been operating Seton Hall's dining rooms since 1987. Al Frungillo has also been philanthropic with other parts of Seton Hall University's campus, as he has helped contribute to Galleon Room renovations and upgrades, the Italian Studies Program, the Boland Hall Memorial Fund, the Library Endowment, the Law School Endowment Fund, the Many Are One Alumni Scholarship, and Richie and Sue Regan Endowment for Athletics.
In addition, Al, Hope, Michael, Anthony and Al's granddaughter, Chiara, are devoted season ticket holders and attend every Pirates basketball game.
Â
"As our family enters into its 30th year of operating Gourmet Dining Services at Seton Hall University, we are proud to make this commitment to Pirate Blue, which does an extraordinary job supporting Seton Hall student-athletes", said Al Frungillo. "Over the years Seton Hall University has done so much for me and my family that we are only too happy to continue to support this great University which I am honored to be a part of."
Â
The gift represents another proud moment for Pirate Blue, which is on the heels of an historic year during the 2015-16 fiscal year and just raised over $120,000 during last month¹s Beefsteak Tip-Off Dinner.  The Pirate Blue Athletic Fund directly supports the Seton Hall Department of Athletics and its student-athletes. Pirate Blue strives to embrace and engage the most dedicated Pirate fans within the Seton Hall community to further promote the passion and camaraderie that makes the University so unique.
