Dominant Performances Lead Pirates Over Bucknell

South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team had another strong day, sweeping the top three spots in five different events in its meet vs. Bucknell, headlined by junior Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.) winning three events, as the Pirates topped the Bison, 171-112, Sunday at Imperatore Natatorium. Yanchulis was joined by sophomore Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) and freshmen Joshua Tosoni (Arnold, Md.) and Connor Phillips (Cape Town, South Africa) as three-race victors.
The Pirates improved to 6-1 in dual meets this season.
The Pirates went 1-2-3 in five events on the afternoon, including the 200 freestyle, won by Yanchulis, the 100 breaststroke, won by Tosoni, the 200 butterfly, won by sophomore Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas), the 100 freestyle, won by Yanchulis and the 100 butterfly, won by Phillips.
Yanchulis'Â winning 200 freestyle time was 1:41.57, a second ahead of junior Vadim Jacobson (Arnold, Md.), who came in at 1:42.86. Freshman Jonathan Bar-Eli placed third at 1:45.13. He then took the 100 freestyle in a very tight race with a time of 47.15, just ahead of freshman John Redoutey (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and his 47.61 and Williams' 47.70. Yanchulis then teamed with Williams, Phillips and Redoutey to win the 400 freestyle relay at 3:10.12.
Tosoni also won three races, first teaming with freshman Tyler Kauth (Wall, N.J.), Phillips and Williams to claim the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:34.62. Then he captured the 100 breaststroke in a time of 57.59, ahead of teammates freshman Zohar Suslovich (Holon, Israel) and junior Collin Dunn (Litchfield, Conn.), who took second and third, respectively. Toson then grabbed the 200 breaststroke with a big nine-second victory over Bucknell's Matthew McGoey, coming in at 2:05.81.
Williams was the fastest sprinter of the day, winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.43. Phillips was tops in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 50.14, with Nash and junior Matt Zebrowski (Sayreville, N.J.) right behind him.
Freshman diver Timothy Lynch (Watertown, Conn.) was the other winner Seton Hall winner of the day, claiming the 1-meter and 3-meter dives over Bucknell's Peter Sigward.
Kauth and sophomore Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) also turned in strong performances as Kauth was second in the 100 and 200 backstroke and Grubert was the runner-up in the 1000 freestyle and the 200 IM.
Seton Hall will head to in-state rival Rutgers on Friday to compete in a quad meet against the host Scarlet Knights and BIG EAST foes Georgetown and Villanova.
