Lindner Wins Three but Hall Falls at Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Junior Tessa Lindner (Sun Prairie, Wis.) delivered one of the finest performances by a Pirate this season but The Hall came up short against a perenially strong Marist squad on Tuesday, falling 172-123 in the last dual meet of the year.
Lindner powered her way three first-place finishes against the Red Foxes, continuing what has been a standout turn in her third year at The Hall but the Marist women improved to 9-1 on the year with a Senior Day victory.
The result marks the first loss in three appearances since the calendar turned to 2016 for the Seton Hall women but SHU still concludes the head-to-head portion of its schedule wiith a total of seven wins.
In addition to Lindner's exploits, the Pirates picked up a total of nine runner-up finishes in the pool - seven of which came in individual events - and one more from the diving board during a highly-competitive meet.

- Lindner was the unquestioned star of the evening, sweeping both butterfly events and tacking on another win in the 200-IM. The Sun Prairie native went 2:11.41 in the 200-fly, edging Sarah Mosca of Marist by .46 seconds. Cece Henry (St. Charles, Mo.) took third in the event by registering a time of 2:12.25
- In the 100-fly, Lindner led a 1-2 Seton Hall finish that included sophomore Sydney Simpson (Tallahassee, Fla.) in the runner-up spot. A final time of 59.21 was enough for Lindner to book a third-straight victory in the event while Simpson added second-place points with a time of 59.81.
- To close the evening, Lindner out-paced the rest of the 200-IM field with a time of 2:13.65. For the season, the junior ranks among the top-10 in the BIG EAST in all three events she was able to win on Tuesday, setting the stage for her to add to a total of five championship finals appearances from her last two trips to the conference meet

A trio of Pirates in senior Megan Mallon (Glen Mills, Pa.), freshman Courtney McCardle (Hurley, N.Y.) and sophomore Kylene Ronayne (Springfield, Pa.) each earned a pair of second-place finishes while newcomer Aitana Robinson (London, Ontario) added one of her own.
- Robinson came the closest to adding a fourth victory for the Pirates, clocking in at 59.60 in the 100-back - just .01 seconds behind Georgia Goldman of the Red Foxes. The newcomer has now placed in the top-two of tjhe 100-back in all three meets of 2016
- Mallon headlined SHU's breaststroke efforts, placing second at 100 and 200 yards. In the 100-breast, her time of 1:07.08 was less than one second off the top time of the meet and she was followed to the finish by Simpson in third (1:09.71). At 200-yards, Mallon clocked in at the 2:28.12, exactly one second before Simpson who recorded another third-place time in the event as well. Both Mallon and Simpson rank among the top-five league-wide in both breaststroke events heading into the final meet of the regular season.
- As she has throughout her debut campaign, McCardle paced the Pirates in sprint freestyle competition. Her times of 25.08 and 54.54 at 50 and 100 yards respectively represent her top marks since the return from winter break.
- Ronayne, who recorded a pair of wins in a victory over Rider in the previous competitive meet, increased her total to six top-two finishes in seven individual events with a pair of runner-up showings in the 200-free (1:58.84) and 200-back (2:10.00). Senior Alexa Santis (Ijamsville, Md.) delivered a third-place 200-back time of 2:12.13 in a strong event for The Hall

- Robinson, Mallon, Lindner and McCardle combined for a time of 1:49.30 to claim second in the 200-medley relay
- The team of Ronayne, Melody Bush (Guelph, Ontario), Maddie Harris (Ocala, Fla.) and Cora Meehan (Noblesville, Ind.) took second-place points in the 400-free relay with a time of 3:47.04

- Senior Gabby Signorelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) added a runner-up tally of 262.05 from the three-meter board and scored 225.30 to take third from one meter
