Two Wins Highlight Final Day as Hall Closes Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, VA. - Freshmen Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) and Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas) each swam their way to championship event victories on the final day of the Patriot Invitational Saturday, running the three-day total for the Seton Hall men's swimming & diving squad to four and capping a stellar weekend for Pirates in Fairfax.
Saturday's action also included a total of seven top-five finishes as well as a trio of B final victories from Chris Tucker (Middletown, N.J.), Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) and Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.).

- Grubert recorded his second win of the meet in the 1,650-free race, completing the mile in 15:55.01 and out-pacing his next closest competitor by more than four seconds. Grubert previously won the 200-IM with a new meet record on Friday and his 1,650-free mark is a new team-best for the season while sophomore Cody Wimmer (Macungie, Pa.) added a fifth-place time of 16:21.55 that ranks second.
- Nash topped 35 other swimmers in the 200-fly, coming back in the night session to post a time of 1:51.42 after qualifying for the championship final as the seventh-seed following preliminaries. Sophomore Matt Zebrowski (Sayreville, N.J.) qualified as the second seed after going 1:52.66 in the morning session and remained in the top-four with a finals time of 1:52.40

- Grubert also headlined a strong showing from The Hall in the 200-back, combining with Zohar Suslovich (Holon, Israel) to claim third and fourth place respectively. Grubert posted a time of 1:50.65 in the final after leading all swimmers with a 1:49.32 mark in preliminaries while Suslovich clocked in at 1:51.19 to take fourth. Freshman Chris Tucker (Middletown, N.J.) won the B final by reaching the wall in 1:52.05, two spots ahead of Ivan Michalovic (Glen Mills, Pa.) who finished in 1:53.82
- Yanchulis notched a top-three finish in the 100-IM, improving his preliminary time by .7 seconds to finish at 52.27. Nash also made his way into the A final in the event where he placed seventh with a time of 54.30.
- In the 200-breast, Yanchulis added a B final victory by clocking in at 2:06.66 that would have taken third in the A final. The winning time was over .5 seconds ahead of the All-BIG EAST performer's previous season-best time and would rank atop the conference according to listed times.
- Williams added a B final first-place finish in the 100-free, cutting over a second off his preliminary time to register a 46.24 effort in his second swim. Both of his times in the event eclipsed his previous career-best which came back in the opener against Montclair State

- In the 400-free relay, Williams, Grubert, Yanchulis and Keith Carlino (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) combined to post a fifth-place time of 3:04.98 that was just over one second off the school record pace and surpassed the squad's previous season-best by more than four seconds.
