The Orange took the early lead thanks to a Jenna Rickan score in the 24th minute. Alyscha Mottershead started the scoring play with a serve into the box that Rickan finished with a header past SHU keeper Alyssa Kelly (Southampton, N.J.) and into the left corner of the net.
Ritter came up with the equalizer for Seton Hall just seven and a half minutes later, scoring on strike from the right side and into the top-left corner. Junior Brittney Albrecht (Mahwah, N.J.) and junior Marie Klemme (Berlin, Germany) each had an assist on the score.
With the goal, Ritter moved into a tie with Andrea Scannapieco for eighth-place in Seton Hall history with 31 career points. She also vaulted into a tie with Rita Massot for fifth-place on the all-time goal's scored list with 14 in her career. She now sits just two goals away from moving into a tie for the fourth position.
Syracuse (6-4-2, 3-1-1) managed to retake the lead before the end of the first half with Mottershead using a series of quick shots from close range to account for the eventual game-winner. Kelly made a save on the first attempt, one of her four on the night, but Mottershead took control of the rebound and scored her third goal of the season.
The Orange scored once more after the half, as Jackie Firenze provided Syracuse with a two goal lead, on an assist from Erin Simon.
Syracuse finished the match with a 14-3 advantage in shot attempts and fired a total of eight shots on goal. SHU freshman keeper Gina Maiorana (Street, Md.) played the final 31 minutes in net for The Hall, making a save on the only shot she faced.
In addition to Ritter's score, junior Meghan Hayes (Fredon, N.J.) and Albrecht also recorded shots for the Pirates.
Seton Hall (6-7, 1-4) returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 30, when it heads to Queens, N.Y., to take on the St. John's Red Storm.
The Red Storm are coming off a 1-0 win over Rutgers on Friday night, their first conference win of the season after an 0-4 start to their BIG EAST slate. Seton Hall and St. John's split a pair of contests last year, with the Pirates coming away with a 1-0 victory in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship last fall.
Game time at Belson Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
