Tennis Hosts ITA Campus Kids Day

The stated purpose of Campus Kids Days is based on three central concepts; player development, community outreach and promoting the game of tennis.
Through this program, the ITA has teamed with collegiate programs in an effort to engage more junior players at a young age and give them firsthand exposure to the collegiate tennis atmosphere.
The initiative is also aimed at strengthening ties between the participating school's tennis program and the local community.
Participation was free and all attendees were treated to extensive, individualized instruction from all members of the Seton Hall team as well as head coach Greg Wyzykowski.
"I think this was a unique event in that I feel our team had as much fun and got as much out of it as the kids did," Wyzykowski said.
"It was a chance for us to connect with the community and for them to do the same with our team. It was good to see smiles on the girls' faces throughout the event. Hopefully this is the first of many Campus Kids Days at Seton Hall and we can continue to grow the event and reach even more people."
Activities included skill-building exercises focused on promoting fitness, hand-eye coordination and the racquet skills that are fundamental for any tennis player.
All participants also received a signed team photo, a Seton Hall themed prize pack and had the opportunity to share pizza with the Pirates.
"It was definitely a rewarding experience and it was fun to see all those kids excited about tennis." added freshman Madison Shoemaker (Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia).
The team returns to the court tomorrow, Saturday, April 14 for a showdown with West Virginia. Start-time is slated for Noon from the Baird Courts, located in South Orange.
SHU wraps up its regular season on Sunday, April 15 when they host # 57 Syracuse. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
Come out and support the Pirates as the Syracuse match will also serve as senior day for team members Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) and Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England).
