The Pirates tallied eight first place finishes in 16 events on their way to sweeping Drexel (183-111), Lafayette (205-94), and hosts Loyola (MD) (182-116). SHU's 205 points against Lafayette is the team's highest dual meet score in the last seven seasons.
Senior Brenna O'Keefe (Hyde Park, N.Y.) picked up a victory for The Hall in the first individual swim of the day, clocking in at 10:43.95 to finish atop the 1,000-yard freestyle race. Freshman Alexa Santis (Ijamsville, Md.) collected fifth place points in the race as well.
Megan Mallon (Glen Falls, Pa.) scored another victory for Seton Hall in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time that was over a second faster than her nearest competitor (1:08.24). It is the second consecutive win for Mallon in the event.
The freshman breaststroke specialist later finished second at the 200-yard distance, trailing only teammate Kerrie Kolackovsky (Franklin Square, N.Y.) who touched in 2:23.87 to lead all swimmers. Sophomore Megan Mostoller (Cheshire, Conn.) contributed her second fifth place time of the day in the event as well.
Kolackovsky added another win in the 500-yard freestyle as she led an all-Pirate top-three in the race. O'Keefe came in second, followed by freshman Katie Adams (Linwood, N.J.) in third. Seton Hall was the only women's team at the meet to claim the top-three spots in a single event, and with freshman Leah Mayer (London, Ontario) placing fifth, the Pirates claimed four of the top-five times in the race..
In the 200-yard butterfly, junior Jane Ehret (Florida, N.Y.) picked up her fourth victory of the season after finishing with a time of 2:09.18. O'Keefe placed fifth (2:14.07), one of three top-five finishes for her on the day.
Seton Hall was also a force in backstroke competition as senior Andrea Shuba (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was tops in the 200-yard race and placed second at 100-yards. Freshman Cora Meehan (Noblesville, Ind.) followed Shuba to the wall as she finished second in the 200-yard race and Santis clocked in fifth to complete a trio of Pirates in the top-five.
Meehan later added a fourth place effort in the 100-yard backstroke.
Another freshman, diver Gabby Signorelli (Massapequa, N.Y.), turned in the best performance of her young career, taking first in the three-meter dive with a BIG EAST automatic qualifying score of 245.0 points. Junior Katie Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) dove to a second place score in the event that featured divers from the other competing schools.
In the final diving event of the meet, Signorelli and Riley again finished back-to-back from the one-meter board, placing third and fourth respectively.
SHU's eighth victory came in the final event, as the team of Gabi Levine (Garwood, N.J.), Rae Congdon (Ottawa, Ontario), Alie Zelenky (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Kolackovsky triumphed in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Aside from Signorelli, SHU had two other athletes add another automatic qualifying time to their ledger as Kolackovsky came in under conference meet standards with a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.57) and Levine clinched a berth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.42.
Weather permitting; Seton Hall will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 30 when they travel to New Rochelle to go heads-up with the Iona Gaels. Start-time is currently scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
