Men's Cross Country Wins Monmouth Invitational

Patrick Gildea Places Second
EASTON, PA - For the second meet in a row, junior Patrick Gildea placed second to lead the men's cross country team to the team title at the Monmouth University Invitational. The women's team finished sixth.Gildea finished with a time of 26:25, 18 seconds behind the winner of the meet, Scott Keyser of Rider University. They have finished first and second respectively in both meets so far this season.
With only 45 team points, the Pirates easily recorded their second straight team title. Host Monmouth University placed second with 58 points.
The Pirates had five runners finish in the top 15.
Sophomore Carl Planty (Sauquoit, NY) finished second for Seton Hall placing sixth with a time of 26:38.
Senior James McGovern (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) cracked the top ten for the first time this year finishing tenth with a time of 26:56.
Junior Luis Duarte (Lodi, NJ) finished 13th with a time of 27:27, and freshman Tyler Cardinal (Middletown, CT) finished right behind him placing 14th with a time of 27:38.
Freshman Julio German (Sleepy Hollow, NY) , freshman Chad Sultzer, and junior Scott Bessette (Wakefield, RI) were also top 30 finishers for the Pirates.
Sophomore Leah Grant (Providence, RI) finished 18th with a time of 20:43 and junior Marjorie Donaldson finished 22nd with a time of 20:55 to lead the women's cross-country team to a sixth place team finish.
Freshman Kemba Seider and seniors Jarita Dill (Devonshire, Bermuda) and Teneka Horton (Chicago, IL) were also top 50 finishers for the Pirates.
The cross-country teams return to action Saturday, Sept. 30 as they compete at the George Washington University Invitational in Washington, DC.
